Services

The Milwaukee County Clerk provides services to the County Board, County Executive, county government departments, the citizens of Milwaukee County and the general public. The County Clerk records and indexes the proceedings of the County Board of Supervisors; maintains all of the legislative files and the indexes of ordinances and resolutions for Milwaukee County; administers oaths of office, maintains the central files for Milwaukee County reports, records, contracts and corporate documents; receives and publicly opens bids; issues marriage licenses; accepts applications for passports; sells bus tickets; processes garnishment actions, tax levies and wage assignments of County employees; processes lien notices; and registers all lobbyists and lobbying principals and reports to the County Board, County Executive and the public on lobbying activity.

County Information

Milwaukee County is Wisconsin’s most populous and most diverse county.  Located on shores of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee County has a mixture of urban, metropolitan and rural living.  The many wonderful attractions include, the Milwaukee Art Museum, with its spectacular addition designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava; the Milwaukee Public Museum, a museum of natural and human history; Discovery World, a hands-on exhibition; Betty Brinn Children’s Museum; and the new Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Museum.  Other attractions include Milwaukee Brewer baseball at Miller Park, Bucks basketball, beautiful parks, the Zoo, golf courses, theaters, boat tours, Great Lakes fishing, brewery tours, Summerfest, and many ethnic festivals.  The Wisconsin State Fair is held in Milwaukee County every August.  Milwaukee County is the hub for Wisconsin business, industry, recreation and culture.  With a strong sense of community, Milwaukee County is a great place to live, work and raise a family.
